The Board of Education of Macomb Community Unit School District #185 will have three (3) four-year term positions open for the April 2023 general election. According to the School Code, a Board member must be a citizen of the United States of the age of 18 years or over, a resident of the state and the territory encompassing the district for one year immediately preceding the election, a registered voter as provided in the general election law, and shall not be a child sex offender as defined in Section 11-9.3 of the Criminal Code of 2012, and cannot serve as school trustee or school treasurer.
Therefore, if you live in one of the following congressional townships: Bethel, Chalmers, Emmet, Macomb, Mound, New Salem, or Scotland; meet the above qualifications; are dedicated to children, education, and the community; and, would like to serve your community as a member of the Board of Education, please pick up a petition at the District Administrative Service Center, 323 West Washington Street. The first day to file petitions is Monday, December 12, 2022; the last day to file is Monday, December 19, 2022. Petitions must be filed at the McDonough County Clerk’s Office.
